We are not a vanity press. Each submission is subjected to a rigorous review process, and like other publishers, we have preferences. Because we spend so many hours on each book, we have to love what we publish. To improve your chances of being accepted by us, please be sure to check out our Submission Guidelines.
If we decide to offer you a contract, we may request minor changes that we feel will enhance the presentation of your theme; for instance, we may suggest cutting some poems, adding others, or changing the order of the poems, pending your approval.
We've never met a writer who didn't have a preference about the book's cover. If you've got ideas, we want to hear them—we want your finished book to match your vision. If you need help designing a cover, we'll work with you to come up with something you love.
As the poet, you play a major role, reviewing the book at every step of the process. Once the poems are formatted, stripped of typos, and approved by you, we send a Reviewer's Copy electronically to other poets or magazine editors to obtain blurbs for the back. As soon as all the blurbs are in, we send you a galley for your final approval. Nothing goes to print without you seeing it first.
Your book will be assigned an ISBN and registered, and can be sold in any retail store. Upon publication, your book will be made available for purchase on our site (and your site if you've got one) and posted at The Chapbook Store.
